Our food should be our medicine. Our medicine should be our food.” We agree whole heartedly. Smart choices can affect your weight loss effort. You can even eat foods in a certain balance to burn fat! A prominent fast food chain uses the moniker – “You Gotta Eat” and they are right. We all have to eat... to stay alive. HOWEVER, when it's fully understood that “what we eat” makes all the difference in our health and our weight, then making wise food choices becomes easy and natural. When you decide you want to be healthy and remain healthy for life everything changes. It makes sense, if you want to become a pilot your go to flight school and you train. If you want to be a police officer you become a cadet and train. If you want a healthy body you learn what fuel your body needs and train yourself to eat well.
Food is Fuel - The Body Needs Fuel for All of Its Activities
The body requires three basic nutritional building blocks: carbohydrates, protein, and fat. Carbohydrates, or carbs as they are called, are the fast-acting, fast-burning fuel. Your body uses carbs quickly; consequently need to be replaced frequently. Your body cannot store vast amounts of carbohydrates, so they are used or converted into a form that can be stored – that is usually fat. Carbohydrates include grains, fruits and vegetables.Proteins are necessary and are converted into amino acids and form the building block for tissues and muscle. Protein must be replenished regularly for it cannot be stored – only used. Sources of protein include meats, nuts, beans, and dairy products. Fat is everything that isn't protein or carbohydrate. Why do you need to eat fat? Your brain is approximately 70% fat, your nerves are covered in fat (the myelin sheath), every cell in your body is surrounded by cell membrane made up of fat, and fats are the building blocks form many of the hormones in your body. Eating the right kind of fats can actually help you lose weight and maintain a healthy weight. The key is to work with your very individual body. They are not all the same. You've got to provide the right balance of carbohydrates, proteins and fats, combined with proper activity, to have your body function optimally. You will notice dramatic shift once you change you eating habits. You will find you have increased energy, sleep more soundly and eliminate certain food cravings. Old familiar aches and pains seem to disappear and ones mental attitude gets a boost as well. Finding an easy diet that works and the right easy diet food to eat will be the challenge. More often than not the very appealing and artificially tasty foods are NOT the best choices. However, a change of diet is necessary if you want to enjoy a healthy lifestyle and a longer life.
