6 Healthy Grocery Shopping Tips

Here are 6 simple grocery shopping tips to savvy and healthy food shopping without having to spend hours in the supermarket:

- Make a food shopping list. Never shop without one. If you have created a menu for the week you’ll know what to buy. It will save you both time and money.

- Shop the perimeter of the grocery store, where fresh foods like fruits, vegetables, dairy, meat, and fish are usually located. Avoid the center aisles where packaged junk foods lurk.

- Choose "real" foods, foods that are fresh, raw and natural. Pick foods with as little processing and as few additives as possible. If you want more salt or sugar, add it yourself.

- Steer clear of packaged foods. If you must purchase a packaged food READ THE LABEL THOROUGHLY. If you are not certain don’t have it in the house.

- Avoiding certain foods that contain more than five ingredients, artificial ingredients, or ingredients you can't pronounce.

- NEVER shop hungry. You know you’ll be tempted to buy on impulse and when it comes to food impulse can lead to trouble.
